Trust and power on display.

At the MCA, two dancers spend an hour moving through sculptural pieces. Laura Baumeister and Katlin Bourgeois are performing Brendan Fernandes' "The Rite" - and the piece draws connections between Ballet & BDSM

Fernandes trained at Martha Graham Dance Company and noticed something: the same dynamics of trust, mastery, and submission that exist in dance studios also show up in BDSM practices. Both require complete confidence in your partner while surrendering control. Both demand awareness even in vulnerability.
